Mera Peak

A deservedly popular climb for more adventurous trekkers, Mera Peak is situated in a less frequented corner of the Everest region, within the Makalu Barun National Park. At 6476m, Mera is the highest of the designated Nepalese trekking peaks, and presents no technical difficulty, making it very attainable for non-climbers.  The approach is initially made through beautiful forests to access the entry to the Hingku valley, which presents a deep corridor through magnificent 6000m peaks.  The climb up to the Mera La and the final oxygen-deprived slog to the summit is worth every step for the fine views of Everest, Makalu, Chamlang, Cho Oyo and Kanchenjunga - possibly one of the most outstanding panoramas in the entire Nepal Himalaya.
