Medical Advisory Service for Travellers (MASTA)

A comprehensive travel health resource providing up-to-date health briefs on specific countries, purchasable for a small fee online.  They operate a network of of travel clinics countrywide, formerly BA Travel Clinics.

International Porter Protection Group

Entirely run by volunteers, the IPPG works to improve the conditions of mountain porters in the tourism industry worldwide.  The groups key aims are to ensure that every porter has access to adequate clothing, boots, shelter and food in the mountains, as well as medical care where required, and insurance.


An online directory of the world’s best walks and hikes, started in 2008 by William and Alexandra Mackesy.  Unlike Wikipedia, which is compiled by contributers from the public at large, Walkopedia is written by the Mackesy's, who are avid walkers and writers - their online magazine features comprehensive write-ups of a wide range of walks from around the world and how to go about them (illustrated with photographs).
