Safaris that are good for families

It’s not always easy finding a safari that provides a good experience for all members of the family - games drives frequently prohibit children below 12 years of age, particularly in Big 5 reserves, and many luxury camps won’t accept children below 16 years of age.  However, there are a good number of camps that accept children from a young age - many of these simply provide a child-minding service, but there are also others that actively encourage children to participate in safari activities

If you are considering a safari with your family in either Southern or Eastern Africa, then please contact us and we will be very pleased to help you find a suitable experience.

Malaria is always an important consideration when going on safari, and especially so when young people are involved.  Many parents are naturally reluctant to administer malaria prophylaxis for young children (we recommend you seek the advice of a health professional when considering this). In South Africa, there is a good choice of Malaria-free reserves.  These include Madikwe Game Reserve in North West Province, Addo National Park in the Eastern Cape, as well as Shamwari Private Reserve, and Kwandwe Private Reserve, both in the Eastern Cape.
